Pregnancy Update: 30 Weeks + 1 Day
I am so sorry I missed a week of writing, but these last two weeks have been extremely busy. So let me catch y’all up real quick.
I am currently 30 weeks and 1 day pregnant as I type this blog. WOW. What a relief. I am loving every bit of this pregnancy too. I am literally in the 30s now when it comes to weeks—and this is officially the home stretch.
Pregnancy Symptoms
I still don’t have any new symptoms. Constipation still gets the best of me sometimes, but I have a trick up my sleeve—prune juice or magnesium Calm powder. Heartburn also sneaks up on me some nights and has me feeling like I’m about to die. I’ve found a new secret weapon for that too: chocolate milk. When Tums don’t cut it, chocolate milk does.
My lower back and right hip still get stiff and occasionally flare up, but since I’ve been seeing a chiropractor and getting weekly massages, the pain is much more manageable. Now I might get one flare-up a week instead of dealing with pain every night.
Our baby is getting big. We officially hit the 3-pound range this week. Baby is measuring 3 lbs 1 oz and growing every single day. I’ve noticed a big change in movements too. I can feel limbs stretching and rolling across my stomach—it literally feels like huge worms moving around. I still feel jabs and kicks, but those slow, rolling movements are so cool. I absolutely love that feeling.
Even better news: my cervix is still long and closed, so I no longer have to see my high-risk doctor. Praise God.
Hubby also got to witness the baby having a full-on dance party in my belly. My stomach was moving from left to right, and he was in complete awe. It meant so much to me that he got to experience that moment with me. We truly cannot wait to meet our baby.
And remember those weekly shots I’ve been taking? I only have six Makena injections left. I get to stop them at 36 weeks.
What Have We Been Up To?
I’m 30 weeks now, and our baby shower is in three weeks. We’ve been insanely busy planning it. Honestly, planning this baby shower feels like planning a wedding all over again. I feel like we’re spending way too much money—but given everything we’ve been through, I don’t even care anymore. This will only happen once in a lifetime, and I’m just grateful to be this far along.
We also just finished moving out of our apartment in San Jose. Hubby and I are finally reunited and currently staying at my mom’s house in Atlanta. We’re searching for a short-term place to live so that once the baby arrives, we’re already settled and stable. This is another reason it feels like money is flying out the door.
I guess when you hit 30 weeks, the stress and urgency to prepare for baby really kicks in.
Money Rant
If you don’t know me well, let me tell you—I am frugal.
Right now, we’re dealing with:
Deposits and first month’s rent for a new apartment in Atlanta
Flights and hotel rooms for hubby’s family coming in for the baby shower
Furnishing a nursery
I am so thankful for the baby brands that have blessed us. We didn’t have to buy a car seat, stroller, diaper pail, clothes, swaddles, breast pump, and more. That honestly makes me feel a little better.
I don’t want to sound selfish or needy, but I really pray that those attending our baby shower gift us gift cards. Some people might think, “They have money—why do they need gift cards?” But these gift cards will help us buy diapers and wipes of our choosing… and honestly, maybe even help cover some of the baby shower costs.
Let’s be real—baby showers, parties, and events are basically just paying for a lot of people to eat and enjoy themselves. At this point, I don’t even feel like the baby shower is for me anymore.
Happy New Year!!!
I can’t complain about 2019, but I am so excited that 2020 is here. This year is going to be special because a superstar is being born in February.
Yes—my C-section is in February. I officially have less than 50 days until I give birth to my baby boy or baby girl. And yes, we are still not finding out the gender until birth. We also don’t have names yet.
Thank you all so much for your prayers, love, and continued support. Thank you for reading my rants and pregnancy updates. Be sure to check out our latest updates on our YouTube channel, GoodwinSZN, and don’t forget to subscribe. We recently posted our baby shower food tasting too.
Happy 30 weeks to me!
With love,
