Baby Shower Recap & Pregnancy Update
The day before our baby shower was hectic. I won’t get into all the details, but I will say this: I pray nobody ruins my special day when I deliver Baby Goodwin. I literally cried so much the day before that I thought my eyes were going to be swollen shut on the actual day of the shower.
My stress level was at an all-time high.
The girl doing my hair showed up 30 minutes late. I had the baby’s nursery being painted and other work being done around the apartment, so I couldn’t even be there. On top of that, the guy doing the work showed up over an hour late. ESPN arrived 30 minutes early to get footage and had to wait on him to finish. I didn’t even have shoes to wear until the day before the baby shower.
It was honestly a big hot mess—and that’s just scratching the surface.
Our Baby Shower
Our baby shower was very intimate, so if you didn’t receive an invite, please don’t take it personally. We had over 250 people at our wedding, so imagine trying to narrow that list down to 60 people.
We did have a few uninvited guests, which honestly pissed me off. It’s disrespectful to bring extra people to someone else’s event without permission—especially when seating is limited. Sixty people was all we had room for.
Those who were invited were immediate family and very close friends—people we consider our extended family. ESPN came to film portions of our baby shower, which was actually really cool. Stay tuned for our baby shower highlight on GoodwinSZN.
Symptoms
Lately, I’ve been having days where I just feel blah—almost emotionless. I don’t really know how to describe it. Maybe it’s exhaustion or fatigue. Some days I have so much energy, and then suddenly I hit a wall.
By the end of the day, I sometimes feel really stuffed and bloated. To help with that, I’ve started eating my last meal earlier—around 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. instead of 8 or 9 at night.
My Braxton Hicks contractions have also picked up a bit. I was really nervous when I first felt them around 19 weeks, but now they’re pretty normal for me. I’ve definitely noticed an increase, but they’re not painful and I’m not cramping, so I know they aren’t affecting my cervix. Braxton Hicks are expected to increase as you get closer to the end—they’re just my body preparing for labor.
You guys, the baby is so big now that I can feel kicks in my ribs and hips. It doesn’t hurt, but it’s such a weird feeling to be bumped against my own bones. The sharp kicks and punches have slowed down, and now I mostly feel rolling movements. Baby is definitely running out of room. It won’t be long now until he or she is here.
With love,
Mrs. Goodwin 🐝🤍
