An Update, a Thank You… and a Miracle

First off, I want to thank each and every one of you who consistently support my husband and me. You all know that times have been rough throughout our journey into parenthood, and your love and encouragement have meant more than you’ll ever know. I recently had surgery in Chicago in March to have my transabdominal cerclage (TAC) replaced by Dr. Haney. You can watch my TAC surgery HERE. My surgery was a success, and I am incredibly thankful for all of the prayers that were sent my way. Now I can finally put my TAC to use.

So… the moment you’ve all been waiting for…

I AM PREGNANT again!!!

About a month after my surgery, I got off birth control to prepare for fertility treatments. If you’re new here, I’ve struggled with infertility in the past and usually need a little extra help to get pregnant.

But this time… the Lord surprised us with a miracle.

I have never gotten pregnant on the first try, so this was extremely shocking. I had one period after stopping birth control, and then my next cycle never showed up. At first, I assumed the birth control had just thrown my cycle off.

I took two pregnancy tests: a DG Health One Step test and a Clear Blue Pregnancy Test. The cheap One Step test showed a faint line, but the Clear Blue test was negative. I assumed it was a fluke and ignored it.

Another week passed, and still—no period.

I called my fertility clinic to let them know my cycle was delayed, and they advised me to wait until two weeks after a missed period before testing again.

So I waited one more week and took another test—again using only the cheap One Step test.

IT WAS FAINT AGAIN… but darker than the first time.

At that point, I ran to the store first thing in the morning, bought a First Response pink dye test, rushed home, and took it immediately.

Surprise!!!

The First Response test was definitely positive.

I should have used that test from the beginning, but I already had the other two tests sitting in my cabinet from previous pregnancies. And let’s be honest—am I the only one who takes a pregnancy test every single day for like two weeks after finding out they’re pregnant?

I’m pretty absurd when it comes to pregnancy tests. I’ll keep taking them like a crazy person.

I’ll post the test below so you can see why I mistook the first one for being negative.

I am currently 14 weeks pregnant as I write this blog post. Once again, I truly appreciate all of you for being so supportive of me during this journey. Throughout this process, I will do my best to keep you all updated on my pregnancy.

So far, my pregnancy has been smooth sailing—just like usual. I did throw up for the first time after eating crab legs at Juicy Crab in Conyers, GA. I’m not sure if it was bad seafood or pregnancy that caused me to puke, but about three weeks later I had crab Alfredo and became extremely nauseous again. So… I’m pretty sure this baby does not like crab legs.

I’ve also noticed that I’m growing a lot faster this time around—though still not as fast as when I was pregnant with my twin boys. My stomach looks huge, but I should probably mention that I ate a very big meal right before our photoshoot. Yikes!

Stay tuned for more pregnancy updates.

With love,
Morgan Goodwin
