Pregnancy Update: 37 Weeks — We Made It

I cannot believe I’m saying this, but today I am 37 weeks pregnant. YAY!
In this post, I’m recapping my 36th week of pregnancy. I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine’s Day weekend—because mine was… a lot. Week 36 was rough, and so much happened.

Our 4-Year Anniversary

February 12th marks our wedding anniversary. Hubby and I had plans for a nice dinner and were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, those plans quickly changed.

I felt fine in the morning, but by the afternoon I felt like I had the flu. I completely lost my appetite (which I’m still working on getting back), had a fever and chills, and my throat started hurting badly. I ended up going to urgent care just to make sure it wasn’t the flu—thank God it wasn’t.

Because I was sick, we had to cancel our dinner plans. Instead, hubby cooked for me and ran me a nice Epsom salt bath, which honestly meant everything to me.

The hardest part about being sick while pregnant is that you can barely take any medicine. For fever, I could only take Tylenol. For congestion and coughing, I was allowed Sudafed, Mucinex, and Robitussin. Once I started coughing up thick mucus, my doctor decided to put me on antibiotics as well.

Gucci Mane’s 40th Birthday Party

The day after our anniversary, I started feeling a little better by the evening, so I decided to join hubby as his date to Gucci Mane’s 40th birthday party.

The party was beautiful and very well done. Gucci was super humble, and his wife Keyshia looked absolutely stunning. The food was amazing, and we met so many nice people in the music industry—artists, DJs, producers, and more.

We stayed out until about 1 a.m., and let’s just say… the next day, I felt awful all over again.

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day started off rough. After that long night, I felt like I was back at day one of being sick. I had a photoshoot that morning that I couldn’t miss because a company was paying for it—but I felt HORRIBLE. I honestly just wanted to curl up and cry.

After the shoot, I finally started taking the Sudafed and antibiotics, and once the Sudafed kicked in, I felt rapid relief. Hubby dropped me off at my mom’s house so I could rest while he went to practice.

That nap?
Best nap of my life.

Symptoms at 36 Weeks

I have officially beat constipation. Somehow, my baby is now so big that he or she helps mommy go to the bathroom more regularly by putting pressure on my bowels.

I’ve been feeling more Braxton Hicks, sometimes even constant ones for hours—but then they eventually go away. Occasionally, Baby Goodwin pushes his or her head down on my cervix so hard that it literally makes me jump and scream.

Another thing I’ve noticed is my heart rate. I get tired and out of breath so easily now—doing simple things like putting lotion on or brushing my teeth.

The Finish Line Is Here

My pregnancy journey is almost coming to an end, and my journey into actual motherhood is about to begin.

People love to say, “Get ready for sleepless nights,” as if I haven’t been praying for this moment for years. My husband and I have been through too much pain and suffering to worry about sleepless nights.

I’ve already had plenty of sleepless nights—because I didn’t get to bring my babies home from the hospital.

Do you honestly think I care about a sleepless night, a blowout diaper, or my postpartum body?

Man, please.

I am praying for everything that comes with motherhood—the good, the bad, and the ugly. And I cannot wait to share those moments with all of you.

Baby Goodwin will be here very soon, and we cannot wait to meet him or her.

P.S. The next time I write on this blog, I will be introducing Baby Goodwin.
Stay tuned on GoodwinSZN.

With love,
Mrs. Goodwin 🐝🤍
