Happy New Years: 30 Weeks Pregnancy Update

Experiencing Loss / Wednesday, January 1st, 2020

I am so sorry I missed a week of writing but we have been extremely busy these last two weeks. So let me catch y’all up real quick. I am currently 30 weeks 1 day as I type this blog. WoW! What a relief! I am loving every bit of my pregnancy too. I am literally in the 30’s as far as weeks. This is the home stretch!

Pregnancy Symptoms

I still have no new symptoms. Constipation still gets the best of me sometimes. But I have a trick up my sleeve for it aka prune juice or magnesium calm powder. Heartburn sneaks its way up on me some nights and I damn near think I’m dying. I now have a trick to ease heartburn now too. Chocolate milk is my secret weapon when Tums just don’t cut it. I still have a stiff lower back/hip that occasionally wants to flare up. Since I’ve been seeing chiropractor and getting weekly massages, I’ll get maybe one flare up a week vs the pain flaring up every night.

Our baby at 29 weeks 1 day

Our baby is big now. We finally hit the 3lb range this week. Our baby is measuring at 3lbs 1oz and constantly growing everyday. I’ve noticed a change in my baby’s movements too. I can feel the baby moving limbs across my stomach and it feels like huge worms. I still feel jabs and kicks but I can feel the baby slight movements, which is cool as hell. I love that feeling. My cervix measured super long and closed again too. So now I don’t have to see high risk doctor anymore.

Also, hubby got to see the baby have a whole dance party in my stomach. My stomach was moving from left to right. He was so amazing and was so elated to get to experience that moment with me. We cannot wait to meet our baby. Remember when I told you all that I had to take shots every week? Well, I only have 6 more shots to go. I get to stop taking my McKena injections at 36 weeks.

What have we been up to?

I am 30 weeks and our baby shower is in 3 weeks. We have been so busy with planning our baby shower. This baby shower is almost like planning a wedding all over again. I feel like we are spending way too much but this is only going to happen once in a lifetime. Given our circumstances, I don’t even care how much we spend anymore. I’m just so happy to be this far along in pregnancy and I will be more excited when our baby arrives.

We also just finished moving out of our apartment in San Jose. Me and hubby recently reunited again and we are currently staying at my moms house in Atlanta. We’ve been searching for a place to stay short term, so that when the baby arrives we are already set and stable. This is another reason why I feel like we are spending so much right now. I guess when you hit 30 weeks the stress and anxiety to hurry and prepare for baby finally hits.

Money Rant

If y’all don’t know me well, let me tell you. I am frugal! We have to submit deposit and first months rent for our new apartment in Atlanta. We’ve had to buy flights and rooms for my hubby’s family when they come in town to visit for the baby shower. And we are spending money on furnishing a nursery. I’m so glad different baby companies sent us items for our baby. Luckily, we didn’t have to buy our carseat, stroller, diaper pail, clothes, swaddles, breast pump, etc. This at least makes me feel a little better.

I don’t want to sound selfish or needy, but I pray those that are invited and coming to our baby shower is gifting us with gift cards. People may look and say oh well they have the money, why we need to give them gift cards. Well, these gift cards are to help us purchase diapers and wipes of our choosing. And hell, maybe even help us pay for this baby shower lol. After all, baby showers and parties and events is basically paying for hella people to eat and enjoy. I don’t even feel like my baby shower is for me anymore!

Happy New Years!!!

I can’t complain about 2019, but I am excited that 2020 is here. The year 2020 is going to be great because a superstar is about to be born this February. Yes, my c-section is in February. I literally have less than 50 days until I give birth to my baby boy or baby girl. Yes, we still aren’t finding out the gender until birth. We also don’t have names either.

Anyways, thank you all for your prayers and support. Thank you for reading rants and pregnancy updates. Check out our other updates on our YouTube channel, GoodwinSZN. Don’t forget to subscribe. We recently did a food tasting for our baby shower. Happy 30 weeks to me!

With Love,

Morgan Goodwin

  1. I am so freaking happy for you guys!!! I have been following you and goodwinszn since it started and I am so happy you are in the home stretch to meet your little bundle of joy!!! I had multiple miscarriages and a stillbirth so I understand finally reaching the stage where you no longer have to see those high risk doctors and those shots ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ! My rainbow baby just turned 1 in November and I look her everyday and thank God like FINALLY!!! Praying for you as you continue on this journey and happy planning. I know itโ€™s easier said than done but donโ€™t let it overwhelm you and enjoy the moment of family and friends coming to celebrate you and baby!! Happy New Year to you and your family and canโ€™t wait to see what 2020 has in store for you and your family!

    1. So sorry for your losses. So happy to hear you got your rainbow baby and thank you for keeping up with my husband and I and our journey to parenthood.

  2. God is sooo amazing!!! Thank God you’re in the final stage and can almost see the finish line. And, it’s always a push to get to the finish line and especially if you want to win. The key to getting to the finish and winning is not getting worried or stressed. So, I say try not to get stressed out and let everything happen the God wants it to be. This is your first child, and considering all you all been through, celebrate and rejoice. It’s critical for you to be in good spirit from this point on so no stressed. Your baby will be growing one pound each week which means you will start to get bigger, and the baby movements will be more pressed against your organs and back. The baby will begin to take on some of your moods as well. Continue to stay blessed and get plenty of rest. I’m looking forward to seeing you and Quise make it to the finish line and see you beautiful Blessing from Heaven, Baby Rainbow Jr. I love you both and thank you for sharing and inviting us on this journey. It has been a blessing to witness God’s Glory! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’

  8. Hi Morgan. I’m so happy to see you grow and how far you’ve come with this pregnancy. 2019 brought 3 premature babies to my family. Our first addition was born at 30 weeks at 2.8lbs and she’s now home and thriving. Baby #2 was born at 32 weeks and 4lbs and he is home and growing like a weed. Our precious 3rd blessing is Maverick, he was born at 25 weeks and 1.4lbs. He is still in the NICU but as of this week his breathing tube was removed and he’s been upgraded to the non-critical NICU and is a whopping 4lbs today. Watching these miracles grow has been nothing short of amazement to me and every time I see a new update from you it brings so much joy and I am so happy for you and Marquise to embark on this journey.

BTW, I am so excited you have decided to wait until the arrival of your new bundle of joy. I made the same choice 22 years ago and it is still the best feeling ever to not know until the moment the DR tells you…..literally SO much joy! PS: It’s a girl! ๐Ÿ™‚ Congratulations Goodwin’s!
