Y’all I cannot believe I am still pregnant! This is still so surreal to me. I am taking this pregnancy week by week, day by day. As I write this blog, I am 21 weeks and 4 days. Thankfully my uterus is staying nice a quiet for the most part. I still get braxton hicks occasionally but only when I have to take a bowel movement.
Passing The Halfway Mark
My next appointment will be in less than two weeks in which I will be 23 weeks. My MFM will be checking on the baby and then checking to make sure my cervix is remaining closed and long. In three weeks I will be visiting my regular OB to check on the baby and also do the glucose test. The glucose test is basically a test where I will have to drink this very surgery juice and then have my blood drawn after an hour. This test is to check to make sure I don’t have gestational diabetes (GD) and/or make sure I am not at risk for GD.
Praying I pass this test with flying colors. Lord knows I love sugar. I literally drink a spinach and fruit smoothie for breakfast almost everyday. If I don’t pass, I will have to take the three hour glucose test which I believe involves a blood drawing after three hours. If a woman is diagnosed with GD, she will have to change her diet and measure her sugar levels after every meal. GD can be very dangerous for the baby causing excessive birth weight, pre-term birth, respiratory issues, low blood sugar, and a risk for type 2 diabetes later in life.
I’m 21 weeks and our baby’s kicks have been getting stronger and stronger. I absolutely love feeling the baby’s movements because it reassures me that the baby is doing just fine. Hubby has also felt the baby’s kicks; This is always exciting to me. Other than baby movements and braxton hicks, my constipation has slowly declined. I have been going to the restroom regularly, either once or twice a day. In the past, I used to only go maybe once or twice a week. YIKES!
My appetite has declined a lot. It feels like I am barely eating and when I do eat, I only eat a little. By the end of the day, my stomach feels so tight and stuffed that I occasionally miss dinner. It can get pretty uncomfortable. I know this sounds bad but don’t worry. I take my prenatal vitamins everyday so the baby is for sure getting the proper nutrients.
Also, I have been seeing the chiropractor for about a month and a half now because of my lower back pain. My hip gets really stiff on my right side. My chiropractor specializes in the Webster Technique which is really good for pregnant women. The Webster Technique helps establish a healthy pelvic balance that optimizes space for the baby in your womb.
I Wasn’t The Reason My Hubby Missed Two Games
My husband has had three deaths within his circle of friends and family. All of these losses happened within two weeks time. While coping, the 49ers allowed him time off to grieve. He is healthy and ready to get back to work. Sending prayers to our family members and friends who are grieving. Thank Jesus for giving us the strength to get through these tough losses. And thank you Jesus for allowing my body to carry our baby. Happy 21 weeks to me!
