How My Husband and I Met

The story of how my husband and I met is kind of funny. We both ran track for the University of Texas, at Austin. At this time, the men’s and women’s team was separated. The women had different coaches from the men’s team. We even went to separate track meets.

One day, while I was at a track meet, a track runner from LSU saw me. The guy immediately texted Marquise and asked him if he had a sister on the women’s track & field team. Marquise replied, “no, my sisters are still in high school.” Marquise wanted to know who they guy was talking about, so he asked one of my teammates. My teammate mentioned my name and Marquise told her, to tell me, to text him.

Marquise and I didn’t know each other very well at this time. We may have crossed paths maybe once or twice. I knew who he was and he knew who I was, but we never really sat down and had a conversation with each other. When my teammate told me he said text him, I was like I don’t even have his number. To myself, I was thinking, why does this dude want me to text him.

That night, after I got home from my track meet I sent marquise a text. The text said, “What’s up, this is Morgan Snow. You wanted me to text you?” Marquise then started to ask me several questions. “Where are you from?” “Do you have any family in Texas?” He was trying to find out if we were related. People definitely thought we looked like we can be sister and brother. Still to this day, people say we look alike.

“I found the one my heart loves” (Song of Solomon 3:4)

When we met, I was just a freshman. Marquise was a junior. Going into our relationship, I never thought we would’ve ended up married. I was young and was just dating just to be in a relationship. Now that I think about it, I’m glad I found him. If I hadn’t found my soulmate in college, I probably would’ve still been single. Finding a good man is hard. Most guys my age, are still playing games. They aren’t looking for love and marriage. They’re scared of commitment!

I found my best friend, soulmate, lover, and protector. I thank God, every day for him. He is the most thoughtful, loyal and honest man I know. Baby if you’re reading this, I love you!

Thanks for reading,

Mrs. Goodwin
